Making publications

Print and multimedia publications are the public face of an organization and can have a significant influence on public and project donor perceptions. Organizations spend considerable time, effort and money producing a steady stream of print material including reports, proposals, booklets, newsletters, posters, training manuals and brochures. Producing these publications can be a great deal more stressful and expensive than necessary. Making Publications offers a practical, field-tested, five-step “framework” that programme managers and communications officers can use to systematically plan, compile, produce, disseminate and evaluate the impact of a wide range of print publications. This framework is independent of computer software and can be applied to almost any office environment. The programme includes an overview of the print production process, site visits to local print service providers, and detailed reviews of work flow processes for producing a wide range of publications.
